Thanks to every single audience member who came to see Atlantic Light Theatre’s production of Billy Elliot, The Musical! The show about the boy who ‘just wanted to dance’ captivated our cast and crew and the show’s powerful messages of hope, acceptance and love were just what we needed in cold, snowy February.

The cast of Billy Elliot was an incredible group of local stars we were lucky to bring together. For the first time, Atlantic Light cast young actors and we couldn’t have been more proud of the their dedication and talent. Newcomer Jack Thistle wowed audiences in his first ever role as the young Billy. This hard-working actor took on the challenge of learning ballet, tap in an intensive dance training program with our choreographer Marie Steffen.

The dynamic duo of Co-Artistic Directors Jacinta Mackey-Graham and Doug Vaughan are constantly in the pursuit of excellence. Jack and our music director Doug Vaughan were interviewed for an international website called The Sky Kid – They profile each cast and all the ‘Billys’ in the world, bringing them all together in one online theatre community. Pretty cool! Jack was the 180th actor to play Billy Elliot! Check out his article: Jack Thistle – The Sky Kid.
